twelve days in portugal
Today it is time to say goodbye and begin the long drive through Spain and France all the way back to Germany. While I am sitting in the passenger seat, I have some time to reflect, edit some pictures and type some thoughts.
Lisbon
I only spent a single day in Lisbon. The day after I joined Liza we went to our second stay in Sesimbra, a one-hour drive South of Lisbon. However, we had time to take a long stroll along the Promenade. I was surprised at how … run-down, for lack of a better word, a lot of things seemed.
Run-down does not do things justice, though. You can see a lot of houses, projects and bars being built, a new world springing up on the ruins of the old one. Here, close to the harbour, you can see a lot of broken, decommissioned fishing boats.

Also, as will be customary in all future posts, there will be a lot of images of Liza and of Panda, our dog.

Sesimbra
I imagine Sesimbra is a bustling, lively town when the tourist season is in full swing. When we were there in late April though, it was fairly quiet. It was also not as warm as it will get once summer rolls around, which I’m sure Panda appreciated.
There’s not a lot to do, but the nature around is quite gorgeous. There are steep, breathtaking cliffs, clear Ocean and rolling hills all around. Also, Liza had gotten us an apartment that looked out over the Ocean, which was beautiful.

Since there is not a lot to do in the town itself, we went hiking in the surrounding area pretty much every day.

Since the sun sets at 20:30, we did not manage to catch a lot of sunsets, but the one we did was stunning.

The weather was not always great though, and I managed to snap some moody pics as well.

I’ll leave you with one last absolutely unhinged Panda picture. We got her a backpack one or two years ago for carrying her when her little legs gave out. Truth be told, we haven’t used it much – but who knows, you might see more of it in action. I promise you, it’s one of the cutest things you’ll see today.

Thanks for sticking around, and until next time!
